Wal-Mart delivering Wii deal, cheaper new games

In order to match some of the internet's more enticing deals, Wal-Mart is dropping games like Halo 3: ODST and Left 4 Dead 2 to $50 while giving free $50 gift cards with Wii console purchases.
Something strange has happened to me this year. My years of retail experience have worn off, and I've stopped searching brick-and-mortar stores for holiday deals, instead opting for the convenience of online retailers like Amazon. The fact that San Francisco has a pretty sparse selection of movie and game retail locations probably speeded the process up, though. Regardless, my point remains-- In these cash-strapped times, consumers are even more desperate for deals, and online stores are usually the best sources for that.
Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the US, is hoping to bring folks back into their superstores with a barrage of video game deals running throughout the holiday season. The Nintendo Wii, which has been largely absent from the free-game bundling wars waged since Black Friday, still won't be getting any add-ons, but Wal-Mart customers will get the next best thing--a $50 gift card, which can be used anytime after the original purchase. This deal starts this Saturday, December 5, and will run for a week, until Saturday the 12th.
Something you might want to consider putting on the card is one of the many recent releases that Wal-Mart has price-dropped to $50 effective now until Christmas Eve, both online, and in-stores. Among the new games selling for $10 than the MSRP are Halo 3: ODST, Left 4 Dead 2, and Uncharted 2. You'll still have to pony up the extra Hamilton if you want to get games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed II, though. The full list of price-cut titles appears below.
